Although Madrid's energy and charm are undeniable, sometimes a change of scenery is just what you need. Whether you're craving the vibrant culture of Andalusia, the stunning landscapes of Asturias, or the enchanting flavors of Northern Morocco, here are five unforgettable trips that would be perfect for a weekend away from Madrid.
Seville and Córdoba
These two Andalusian cities are considered a classic for a reason! In Seville and Córdoba, you’ll find some of the most iconic symbols of Spanish culture: flamenco, tapas, and jaw-dropping architecture such as Córdoba’s Mezquita and Seville’s Cathedral. Though these cities are beautiful year-round, they truly come to life during their spring fairs: the Feria de Abril in Seville and the Feria de los Patios in Córdoba. We recommend dedicating a weekend to exploring the best that Seville and Córdoba has to offer. To book a trip with Smart Insiders, click here.

Prepare to be swept away by the passion and intensity of flamenco dance, which pops up spontaneously on street corners and pours out from the Sacromonte caves. Another must-see spot is the Alhambra, which is one of the most famous examples of Islamic architecture in Spain. And of course, you’ll want to gobble down the delicious tapas!
